How RoofRep uses AI
We built RoofRep for roofing reps who live in their truck and on the roof, not at a desk. The AI inside it keeps your customer book straight and gets the paperwork started, so more of your day goes to homeowners. It suggests; you decide. The conversations with your customers stay yours.
What the AI does for you
- Tells you what's next. A morning briefing and a suggested next step for each customer. You accept it, change it or skip it, and you can always set the step yourself.
- Knows your book. Ask “catch me up on the Garcias” and get the whole picture: where the job stands, what was said, what's still open. It remembers the details you've noted, like the gate code or who makes the decision, and never shows you another rep's customer.
- Takes orders by voice. The words you say (as text, never audio) become a card you confirm: a note, a follow-up, an appointment, a call.
- Writes your inspection reports. Walk the roof and talk. RoofRep turns your words into a production report and a customer report that you review and edit before anything is saved.
Why we use the leading cloud AI instead of building our own
Rather than running our own AI servers, RoofRep runs on the most up-to-date, powerful cloud AI engines: Google's Gemini models for most of the work, and Anthropic's Claude to write your proposals. Google and Anthropic keep them current, so RoofRep gets better as they improve, without you updating anything.
We match each job to the right model tier. That keeps RoofRep fast and affordable while the results stay sharp. Everything the AI does runs on our servers, not on your phone, so your phone doesn't need to be the newest one to get the best results.
Your voice never goes to the AI
No audio from RoofRep is ever sent to Google, to Anthropic or to any AI model we use. This isn't just a policy. The code is built so it can't: our automated checks reject any change that would send audio to a model.
When you speak to RoofRep, your iPhone's own speech recognition (Apple's) turns your words into text. On iPhones that support it, that happens on the device. On others, Apple's speech service does it. Only the text reaches RoofRep.
What is sent to the AI
To do its job, the AI sees the same information you work with in RoofRep:
- the words you type or speak (as text), including your notes and voice commands;
- customer details in your book: names, job stages, notes and activity history;
- what you say while you walk a roof during an inspection (as text);
- photos you choose to scan for a new customer, such as a business card or a yard sign;
- when you build a proposal, the job's details, your pricing and the customer's job photos (to Anthropic's Claude, which writes it).
The AI works for your company's account only. RoofRep never sells your data, and never uses it for advertising.
Your data doesn't train their models
RoofRep runs on Google's paid Gemini service. Under Google's terms for paid use, Google does not use what we send, or what it sends back, to improve its products. Google keeps it only for a limited time and only to detect and prevent abuse of its service. (Google's Gemini API Additional Terms of Service, “Paid Services.”)
Proposals are written through Anthropic's commercial API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, Anthropic does not train its models on what we send or what it sends back. (Anthropic Commercial Terms of Service.)
You're in control
- You decide. The first time you sign in, RoofRep asks before any AI feature runs. Until you allow it, AI stays off for you, and RoofRep says so.
- Change your mind any time in Settings → AI.
- Review before it's saved. Inspection reports, proposals, suggestions and voice commands are drafts you preview, edit or dismiss. Nothing the AI writes goes to your customer unless you send it.
